The Law Of Reflection And Reference

Words In Season:
"Whoso learns how to think and consider will learn how to give thanks...."
     African Proverb

Bearing:
"In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him."
  Ecclesiastes 7:14

Bottomline:
Having a teacheable spirit will give one capacity to learn from even a day old, as long as you can pick and glean anything line upon line, precept upon precept.
I learnt the lesson of reflection and reference from a gate man of our church in Ikorodu in year 2012.

According to him, in the day of adversity, all he does is begin to remind God and recount and make lists of what God has done for him in the past. Then be giving Him thanks and praises for them. These look somehow simple and childish but I took note of it. Not only that, I gave it a try and I saw God's wonders in a situation and crossroad I found myself at that very particular moment in the history of my life.
Then I began to see acts of God that changed the course of my life and connected me to my destiny on the other side of a great mountain that stood before me like it did Zerubabel!
Had the first generation of Israelites that perished in the wilderness practiced this principle would their history have been different?
Imagine them reminding God of how He parted the Red Sea, for them to cross to the other side on dry land. How He showed  His wonders in Egypt against the house of Pharaoh and the Egyptians, etc.  time Imagine them doing this each time they face challenges of water, food etc. in the wilderness? Then begin to praise and appreciate God, instead of murmuring and grumbling.....
David understood this principle and he applied it and brought down Goliath. If you are still wondering how, remember he related to King Saul testimonies of God past deliverances from the hands of the bear and lion that attacked him as a sheepkeeper, before going to face Goliath....
The law of reflection and reference.
Now you know what to do in each day adversity comes knocking. "....in the day of adversity consider....." Now you know what to "consider" David said again in Psalms "consider His works...." Give it a try...........
But the greatest of all His works, is the work of salvation. Yes salvation from sin and it's penality that He wrought through His Son Jesus Christ to all and to any who believe. The truth is you cannot save yourself from your sins. But through this finished work of salvation, Jesus can save you. If only you will believe on Him and accept Him to your life today.
